Found a couple of hours to play this afternoon so had a play with UV Wrapping.

Still find lighting an absolute nightmare.  :(
Some kind of real time point and click lighting would useful for those like me who just don't seem to get it.

Nicely Done Dave...

I have been UV wrapping today also....Crisp Packets on a lofted curved shape and it works great :-)

I created a couple of lighting templates that Lars Martha requested in the beta testing group....have a play with these Dave... :-)

This is a scene that does away with the standard lights...

The samples are high to get good quality so it is quite slow... have a play with this scene... :)

From original post:
"The sky luminance has quite high sample values so it creates less shadow lines. You know it is going to be quality as the render time has increased quite a bit  :) be careful if you render it full screen!. If you hit escape please wait for TC to finish stopping Lightworks...it has not crashed!

Also something that Don Cheke pointed out to me/us was the need to untick. Options/Lightworks/Transparency shadow to get soft shadows.

If you notice I have used two suns, one with hard shadows the other with soft.... A technique I use now to get a better soft edge from the suns shadows.

I think you can agree this is a major improvement over the "standard light" system. Also it is not scene size dependent!....Much more professional  :)"

Nice job Dave, I'm still struggling with UV wrap, but I'll keep working on it as the results look great.

Cheers Gaz.

I have re-worked the model using Daz's lighting template.

Looks a lot better now.

A little post editing in photoshop just to sharpen the image and add a frame.

Any change of posting the tube TCW and wrapping image so we can see how you did it?

Hi Colin.

I couldn't post the toothpaste drawing as the image files make the epack too large to upload.

I have attached a uv wrapped die file.
The inserted image is on a separate layer.

Hope this will be of some use to you.

Here is a link to the uv wrapping demo on Youtube.

No problem but can you post them separately to get over the size restriction.  In the meanwhile, I will play with your dice.

The UV video convinced me to upgrade but it replicates what Don Cheke posted earlier. I am intrigued to see what wrapping looks like on a curved shape.
