Thanks.
Just giving 20platinum a trial run now. Any chance of some flesh on the bones in the help manual for the database section please because currently the child pages are empty.
I am interested in 20 platinum's capabilities for BOM [for woodworking purposes], to give item sizes output and any other useful data, including block contents and whether or not the new entity marks can be utilised within the bom output. I looked into the new point coordinates export but that does not include 3d objects.

Woodworking 'layout' is still useless to most woodworkers I think. Mainly because it ignores part thickness and does not print the part description [attribute].

I use it quite often to get an idea of sheet material requirements... It has improved slightly in V20 - more options for optimisations..

Some more fiddling and I have got some dimensional output from a simple 3d box, but not working yet in surface 3d objects, which is surprising seeing that the FurnitureMaker objects are TD  Surface 3d objects also.

Oh no, I evidently have not got the bounding box size info to work yet after all as I have just tried with a simple extrude and not working despite being solid. It worked on the box because it really was made with the box tool.

I upgraded to TC 20 platinum this evening.
The ability to save 3d pdf's will be very useful but I have one question about this.

Am I correct in thinking that materials and textures can't be saved in the 3d pdf?

I tried a galv wrapped image but this just came out as black in the pdf.
The built in leather texture just came out as a plain colour.

Regards
Dave

Currently materials/textures are not supported but it is on our radar and something we plan to address moving forward. I'm just not sure when.
For now you should get the texture's color.

A bug fix or two to the Part Tree.

A new feature to the Drafting Palette. There is now an option to use an insertion point when creating and inserting a DP view.... this keeps the view from moving when changes are made to the model.

Not sure how you mean this, Henry...  :-)

Unfolding in v19 has always been problematic for me. Just got v20, so I'll give it another try.

Brett perhaps you can tell us what about the part tree you're having issues with?

Hi Dave,

As mentioned by Greg T when selecting fillets by highlighting this could sometimes lock up TC.

I am also finding it quite cumbersome in locating/navigating individual items in the tree with sometime over 600 items. It would be good to be able to select multiple items at once for deletion eg. several fillets at once.

I thught you may be able to use the filter comand but haven't managed this.

may be a user issue?

Thanks
Brett

Rip, Great Video.
I would like to see a video on the new wrapping feature if you get the time.
I haven't gotten the hang of it in 19 Plat. and hoping that 20 will make it easier on me.

Thanks.

Rip, YOU DA MAN!
Your new video makes the wrapping process look too easy.
I went ahead with the upgrade this morning not knowing that you were going to post the wrapping video an hour ago.
Now I can start practicing with TC 20. I have a feeling this is going to open up lots of possibilities for others - not just me.
I know Don C. and Henry have explained the wrapping before on other versions but now I can feel like I am part of the gang.

Thanks Again.

I have a question regrading the importing and exporting of models with uv mapping.

I use a 3rd party software application that accepts different formats of 3d models.
I've used TurboCAD successfully to build and export models in '3DS' that I would then import into the other application.

This 3rd party software imports 3DS models that also have a image uv mapped to it.
I've experimented with TurboCAD's uv mapping, and I've failed to export a model to 3DS that contains the proper uv mapping of a image.

Does the new TurboCAD have import/export capability of models that contain uv mapping in '3DS' format?

Are the revolving & meshing gears you show part of TCv20 or have you done this with some other program or add-on?

The pinion option of the gear tool is used to get the gears to align correctly.  I used animation lab to get the motion.

I just installed TC20 deluxe and I can´t find the New Stellated Polygon Tool which creates star-shaped polygons, where is it?

can you tell a list of what new commands are included that were not in turbocad18 deluxe?
