Title: Unfolding A Face
Post by: bigjimslade on August 19, 2009, 09:58:31 PM
See attached.

There are two solids show, one of which has been slided.

View in a render mode. I would like to unfold the turquois face. However, unfold face will not allow me to select the face.

However, if I slice the solid (as shown), I can unfold the three faces that make up the turquois face. (So the face should be unfoldable).

This shape looks less complicated than those shown in the examples in the documentation. So why can I not unfold this face?

From what I see in Help, they used the Cone tool to create their objects.

If I use the Cone tool on a profile like yours, then Unfold Face works on the entire curved surface. If I use the Loft tool, Unfold Face doesn't work. It could be a BUG.

Well known fact: "Unfold face" is flakey, unfriendly, perplexing, and undependable. John R. is correct about Cone vs. Loft.
