Title: Improved STL output
Post by: murray dickinson on June 28, 2009, 06:56:58 PM
Made an interesting discovery the other day that gives a way to improve .stl faceting.  If you've a solid part, explode it to a TC surface, reconvert it to solid in properties, then save as .stl.  With lofted shapes, exploding them three times from the loft, TC often generates polygon facets that have more than three vertices, and aren't planar.  If you convert the TC surface to solid, then explode, the result is completely triangulated.  In my testing to date, it improves the accuracy of faceting and the reliability of the .stl considerably.
