Title: NVidia's New Real-Time Ray Tracing
Post by: Jeffin90620 on August 20, 2018, 04:13:06 AM
I wonder how well TurboCAD will use this family of GPUs.  They are in the Quadro family.

From the article: "One of the reasons for including the Tensor cores is to augment the ray-tracing support by implementing AI-accelerated denoisers. These can essentially finish up a ray-traced image to provide a higher-quality image while requiring less computational power. The combination of ray tracing and Tensor cores enable high-resolution, real-time, ray-traced rendering."

I don't think I'll be testing one with TC.  Even the cheapest one costs more than my whole computer.

They have some new additions in the GeForce line of video cards for mid-3 figures up to very-low-4 figures.

Of course, I don't know when TurboCAD 18 is going to take advantage of the GPU capabilities.

However, from what I have read elsewhere, NVidia has only posted benchmarks of their card's Ray Tracing performance and not the stuff we're used to seeing.  Furthermore, the author says that we're probably not going to see any advantages until game publishers include the code to make use of it, by which time improved versions of the cards will be available.
