Title: Architectural Metric White brick rendering scale wrong TC 2016 Pro Platinum
Post by: bazme on October 12, 2017, 05:09:02 AM
Hi All. I just bought TC 2016 Pro Platinum after using Deluxe V20 for 2D. I want to produce 3D drawings for a House planning application..

Hope somebody can help me with weird brick scale effect !?
If I start a new from template drawing and choose Architectural Metric White and then render a wall with any brick material I get many thousands of bricks in a 2.5 x 10m wall!

Brick rendering  on ALL other templates works fine.

I see the scaling problem on a laptop and powerful desktop - so I don't think its a RedSdk driver problem.

I attach simple drawing.

Intel® Core™ i7-6700HQ (2.6 GHz, up to 3.5 GHz, 6 MB cache, 4 cores)
Intel® HD Graphics 530

2 TB 5400rpm SATA

Its a material scaling issue,  I have to ask - do you just want to know a way to do it, or would you like the calculations to make it reasonably accurate ?

Basically select wall, right click and in materials tab, edit materials,  in texture tab against both scale U and scale V, type on 0.000634, that should give about 28 bricks wide (wall = 6374 mm / 225 mm (brick 215+10 mortar) = 28.32)

Essentially the texture (a jpg image) has 7 bricks wide, and is wrapped as 1 texture per unit, as your units are in mm then one gets 44,618 bricks at a scale u and Scale v of 1, so the scale has to be altered accordingly, you already had a scale value but it was just a little too high, there are two ways to do it, either using scale u- v in texture section of edit materials (where lower numbers = larger texture), , or in the wrapping section at the bottom of the edit materials dialog (higher numbers = larger texture - the most logical).

if you want the full calculations just ask.

Wow! - Andy thank you for that - I had my suspicions and did try to experiment with the UV mapping but I couldn't get the result I wanted. The interesting thing is that the non-Architectural Metric works fine. So I wonder what the advantage of the Architectural Metric template is? Perhaps I don't need it? I can't see the difference just by looking at the two different  drawing displays.

Hi Andy - forgot to respond fully to your answer. Thanks for offer but I'm very happy with basic info.  If we get permission we wil be using reclaimed bricks, timbers and slates so exact scale of render isn't important.
