Title: Drawing Arrowheads on lines
Post by: 3acorns on January 28, 2013, 05:41:25 AM
Hello,

I am trying to draw a line with an arrowhead on it. I use the Leaders feature to get lines with arrowheads and the little horizontal   where the text goes, but I want just a line with a arrow at the end. I was thinking that th line command would be be able to set the termination symbol for an arrow or a dot or cross etc but it does bot seem to have that feature.

How do I draw a line with an arrowhead ( without drawing a line and then drawing and arrowhead and then attaching the two.

Yes - this is the way I now draw lines with arrowheads. I also have made blocks and stamp them into my drawing and then reformat  - sometimes after exploding.

What I am looking for is a way to draw a line and have it stick the arrowhead on there. Some programs have a "line termination" format feature which allows one to set the style for the beginning and/or end points of lines. ( For example, Excel drawing tools has this feature.)

As an alternate I would be willing to use the leader dimension tool, if I could find a way to eliminate that horizontal line that is where the text is. I was looking for a way to set its length but it seems tied to the size of the text string and appears to have a minimum so it always is there.

I attach the dialog box fromn Excel that indicates that part of the line style is how you start and terminate the line

Bring up the Dimension Properties... under Format... remove the check from Force Text Horizontal.

I draw an arrow to whatever shape I please.
Then I join it to form  a polyline unless that's how I  created it in the first place.
Then I select the polyline
Then  I go to MENU / FORMAT / CREATE HATCH

And POOF the arrow fairy makes me an arrow

Then if I'm crafty, I save it as a symbol

You can use the Leader  after making it just use EXPLODE
