Off Topic - Windows 10 Creator Update
Read 510 times

Have any Windows 10 users done the update to the Creator version? What can I expect if I go through with it. Is it a major operating system change or are there just a few new apps as mentioned in the review blurb?

I suspect there will really be no choice at some point since Windows 10 doesn't usually give users a choice about what to update to and what not to. That was one of the big surprises I found when I had installed Windows 10 on my new computer. At this point one has to go through the privacy review for this particular update.

After the fiasco I experienced with their Windows 8.1 to 10 update, I'll wait until I'm forced into Creator.

Both you and Henry echo my thinking on this, but I was hoping someone had some first hand experience.

When it comes to OS updates, I am not an early adopter.  I'm still using Windows 7 Professional and will stick with it for a while.

Hi Don,
I did do update and nothing special did not change. System and programs as whole works fine. A few dialog windows seting in control panel, but I feel that system booting and logon to the Microsoft account it takes a few second longer than before.

I am not either for the most part. I changed to Window 10 when I got my new computer, knowing that Window 7 was only being supported until 2020. Now having experience using Windows 10, I thinks Windows 7 was/is superior in many ways.

My experience with creators update -

Messed up my Mouse settings and Audio settings- both quite easy to reset.
Messed up my Norton AV and my Browser - both not yet sorted out.

I'd have to say don't update until you know the bugs have been sorted out. That said TC appears to work OK..

## Edit ## the screw-up of Norton required a full NIS uninstall/reinstall (I had very good assistance from Norton help centre) ## End Edit ##

Don - I had no difficulty in updating to the Creators Edition apart from the time taken to load.  To be honest nothing broke and I am damned if I can see what difference has been made.  Mind you I have had no problems with other updates either so I must be lucky.
